Noteboard.ai MCP

Connect Noteboard.ai to your AI assistant.

Bring your boards into ChatGPT or Claude Code. Turn the useful parts of a conversation into connected cards you can keep working with in Noteboard.ai.

What your assistant can do

MCP is a standard that lets an AI assistant work with another app. Connect once, approve access, then ask in your own words.

Find a board

Search boards you own and boards shared with you by title or goal.

Read the context

Use saved active cards and their connections to continue a discussion.

Save a conversation

Create a new private board with editable cards and meaningful connections.

Connect ChatGPT.

Add Noteboard.ai as a custom MCP server. Availability depends on your ChatGPT account and workspace permissions.

  1. Add a custom server

Open ChatGPT Plugins, select +, then Add custom MCP server. Name it Noteboard.ai.

  2. Enter the connection details

Use the server URL above and choose OAuth authentication. Leave optional client ID and client secret fields blank for automatic registration. Review the warning and create the plugin.

  3. Approve your Noteboard.ai connection

When prompted, sign in to Noteboard.ai, review the requested permissions, and select Allow connection. Review the discovered tools and install the plugin.

  4. Start a conversation

In a new chat, type @ and select Noteboard.ai. Try one of the prompts below.

Connect Claude Code.

With Claude Code installed, run these commands in your terminal. The connection is available across your projects under your user account.

Add Noteboard.ai
claude mcp add --transport http --scope user noteboard https://noteboard.ai/api/mcp
Sign in to Noteboard.ai
claude mcp login noteboard

Complete the browser sign-in, review permissions, and select Allow connection. Inside Claude Code, run /mcp to check the connection, then ask about a board.

Example requests

Find

“Find my Noteboard.ai boards about the product launch.”

Understand

“Read my launch plan board and summarize the open questions.”

Save

“Turn this conversation into a new Noteboard.ai board. Connect the main idea, decisions, questions, and next steps, then give me the link.”

Tell your assistant which parts to keep. It sends the content needed for the tool call; connecting does not automatically import your whole chat history. Open the returned link to review and edit your board.

Board access and permissions

Read your boards

The read permission covers boards you own and boards shared with you. It is account access, rather than a connection limited to a single board. The assistant can find board titles and goals, then read saved active cards, connections, and available source references.

Read results exclude parked or scrapped cards, comments, board history, raw uploaded file contents, and unsaved collaborative changes.

Create new private boards

The create permission lets the assistant save supplied content as a new private board. The current tools cannot edit existing boards, change sharing, or delete boards.

A new board supports up to 40 cards and 80 connections. Your usual board allowance applies. Saving supplied content uses no Noteboard.ai AI credits; your assistant’s own usage limits still apply.

Disconnect whenever you need to

Open Account settings → Connected assistants → Disconnect. This stops future access through that connection. Boards already created remain in Noteboard.ai, and disconnecting does not remove information already received by your assistant.

Board content you request is sent to the connected assistant. Review its data settings, and only ask it to save content you want stored in Noteboard.ai. See our Privacy policy and Terms of service.

Available MCP tools

Your assistant chooses the appropriate tool from your request.

list_boardsRead
Search by title or goal, or list recent boards. Returns summaries and links, with pagination. Boards in Trash are excluded.
read_boardRead
Read saved active context for a board, selected cards, or selected cards and their connections. Large results may be shortened; ask for a smaller selection to read more.
create_board_from_conversationCreate
Save a new board with a title, cards, and typed connections forming one connected graph. Returns the saved board link.
Details for developers

Transport: Streamable HTTP. Authentication: OAuth with automatic client registration. Scopes: boards:read, boards:create, and offline_access for refresh access.

For board creation, provide a unique request_id of 8–128 characters and reuse the exact same arguments on retries. A successful retry returns the same board. Reusing the ID with changed content returns a conflict.

Connection troubleshooting

I can’t find the custom server option in ChatGPT.

Check the current ChatGPT setup guide and your workspace permissions. A workspace administrator may need to allow custom connections.

The server asks me to sign in, or says “unauthorized.”

Use https://noteboard.ai/api/mcp as the connection address and complete OAuth in your assistant. Opening that address directly in a browser does not connect your account. If access expired or was disconnected, sign in again.

A board is missing or has less content than expected.

Check that you connected the right Noteboard.ai account and still have access to the board. Trash is excluded. Reads use saved active cards; parked and scrapped cards are excluded. If the result was shortened, ask your assistant to read a smaller selection.

My conversation won’t save as a board.

Check your board allowance in Account settings. For a large conversation, ask for a focused summary with no more than 40 cards and 80 connections. Every card must belong to the connected graph.

Still stuck? Contact support with the error message and which assistant you’re using. Keep passwords and access tokens private.
